Getting a sense of the size
A hectare is a square 100 meters a side. An acre is closer to a rectangle of about 64 by 63 meters. If you want a rough mental conversion, multiply hectares by 2.5 and you will be within about 1.2 percent.
The US survey acre used to differ very slightly, because it was defined on the US survey foot. That foot was deprecated on 31 December 2022 and the acre was redefined on the international foot at the same time, so the distinction is now historical. This tool uses the international definition.
