Common questions
How many tablespoons are in a cup?
Sixteen US tablespoons make one US cup. There are also 48 teaspoons in a cup, since a tablespoon is three teaspoons.
How many tablespoons is 1/4 cup?
Four tablespoons. A third of a cup is five tablespoons plus one teaspoon, which is the awkward one.
Is an Australian tablespoon the same?
No. The Australian tablespoon is 20 milliliters against the US 14.79 milliliters, so an Australian recipe's tablespoon holds about a third more.
Can I use this for dry ingredients?
For volume, yes. For weight, no. A tablespoon of flour and a tablespoon of honey weigh very different amounts, so use the cups to grams converter for that.
